De Kromsteert in Nunspeet

Big mistake to come here - particularly with kids. After 3 hours, we left without the dessert and coffee, which had been ordered 45 minutes earlier. The staff are lovely and the restaurant tries very hard with all the amuses and good looking menu, but the quality does not keep pace with the ambition. Tasteless venison carpaccio, salmon was not fresh, mussels swamped with a heavy sauce. The amuses were, well, not very amusing. The venison stake was excellent though. I don't know what was going on in the kitchen that it could take so long. My kids could have played a whole game of monopoly while waiting. We weren't charged for the dessert that didn't arrive, which they could have done.
