8cht Eten en Drinken in Amstelveen

We went on a girls' Christmas night out to 8cht - 14 of us in total. The restaurant itself is very nice. Nicely decorated and it felt cosy, and quite Christmassy with its decorations.

When we came to order I was about the 9th person to order and I asked for a starter and a main. I was abruptly told by the waitress that nobody else had ordered starters, just me. I was shocked and embarrassed as she went on to tell me if I did order a starter I would be eating it alone while everyone else had to wait for their main course. Then she told me the main I had requested was big anyway!!! We could not believe that she was actually refusing me food! So I then asked if she would bring some bread for the table, for us to nibble on while waiting for the mains. She said she would. About 20 minutes later she came back and said the bread was coming. Another 20 minutes later I went to the bathroom, and when I came back they were serving the mains. Still no sign of the bread. Finally when all the mains were served the bread appeared! At this point we were not bothered about it as we had our food.

The food itself was quite good and I ate it all as I was starving. All the girls had not had starters because they wanted deserts, and before she even brought the desert menu we were told that, because they had been so busy, there were hardly any deserts left. Everything my friends had wanted to order was gone! I won't go into the numerous excuses she came up with but we were all disgusted. She asked if we wanted coffees and we just said we wanted the bill and to leave - I don't think she was in the least bit bothered. And to top it off, at one point she put her foot up on the bench where my friend was sitting, to tie her shoe lace, and then casually continued to get her order book out.

I don't think I have ever been so shocked and disgusted in a restaurant in my whole life - we were all disgusted and made sure the waitress knew we would never be back again but I don't think she cared in the least. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired - I would advise anyone thinking of going here not to!
