My Wife and I had visited this restaurant about three years ago when it was under the old management and, as we were staying in Ouddorp, decided to visit it on a whim as we returned from a trip to Amsterdam.
The food, service and ambiance were as we remembered although, as we later discovered, it was under new management. We decided to reserve a table for our 41st Wedding Anniversary the following evening, Monday October 1st when we gave the Chef carte blanche to deliver a meal that was memorable in an atmosphere that compared extremely favourably with restaurants that charge considerably more.
The staff, the Chef is the brother of the Maitre D', cooked a three course meal, to use a colloquialism, 'that was to die for' and we were made to feel like special guests from the time we first entered until the time we left some three hours later.
Neither my Wife nor I could find any fault with the service, ambiance and, most of all, the standard of the cuisine. Our only regret is that we do not travel to Ouddorp more frequently as we would have no hesitation in visiting the restaurant again.
If you are travelling on the N57 it is an easy restaurant to find as you turn off onto Kabbelaarsbank as if you were going to the Center Parcs at Port Zelande. The restaurant is immediately before the level crossing. When the tram is running, there is a stop by the restaurant so you can enjoy a tram and boat ride AND excellent food.
If you are staying at Center Parcs, it is an easy walk from the holiday park and well worth a visit.
To those who looked at the menu outside and then went on to the take-a-way we can only say that you don't know what you are missing.
A definite on our itinary for next year.
Congratulations and we hope to see you on our next visit.
