The Seafood Bar in Amsterdam

Ik werd, zonder reservering, achter in het restaurant gezet. Medewerker (een "runner" van het eten) was zeer attent om me zelf te placeren en mijn thee te brengen. Daarna viel het een beetje stil. Bediening ziet me niet zitten ondanks meerdere bezette tafels (die ook vergeten worden). Runner saves the day echter: ze neemt netjes mijn bestelling op, brengt brood (wat de bediening achterwege had gelaten) en later ook mijn gerecht. Ondertussen stuurt ze ook nog bediening aan onderwijl eten uitserverend en ziet ze kans me te vragen of het smaakt- wat een topper! Het lijkt wel of ze de enige is met overzicht....
Suggestie voor management: draai runners en bediening om. Vette pluim voor deze medewerker - met haar kun je de oorlog winnen.
De avocado/ zalm is heerlijk - aanrader!

The food here is absolutely amazing but the staff seem a bit stretched. The gentlemen who showed us to our table was chewing something, had his shirt half tucked in, half tucked out and was wearing worn tennis shoes. A bit of a weird feeling when you go into a nice establishment expecting to be greeted by someone who looks like they got their stuff together only to be showed to your table by someone who showed up and doesn’t care. Like sir, chew your food and then talk to me. Anyways, I’d honestly still go back. Extremely great value for portion size and quality. We loved it.

Uitstekend eten en zeer vriendelijk personeel en prima prijs.

Fenomenaal mooi restaurant, dat ruimer is dan je van buiten denkt, maar het is toch zeer sfeervol. We werden hartelijk en deskundig ontvangen en we aten heerlijk. We hadden een geweldige middag, aanrader!

If you love Seafood & Oysters.. this is the right place to catch them yourself... :)
Spui location is much bigger than the first location in Amsterdam (Van Baerlestraat 5) and it has its tendency to be very busy and crowded due to its popular seafood selection and ambience... reservation is a must here if your company is more than 2 people on a weekend! Everything is fresh and the demonstration of their seafood selection is proudly presented uniquely at the huge cold counter next to where the chef is preparing all the delicious orders... it's a huge seafood show when you enter the restaurant and makes the mouth melts for any seafood lovers entering the place!
I don't prefer to eat here at busy/crowded moments which makes the sound level higher than it should be, and the atmosphere changes slightly rather to a lunch room or all you can eat feeling for a moment. When it is busy and not enough staff evenly divided for the tables then you have to wait longer for your existing order to arrive and as well to make a new order. Sometimes you have to remind about the drink orders that take as long as preparing the meal...

Still a fave seafood place but I chose carefully which day and time to visit :)
